i got the "i'm bored" whinge from my 7 year old daughter the other rainy day and after a few ideas were rejected as "too boring" I stumbled on a winner. We ended up creating a whole afternoon of activities around the letters "Ch" . . . playing chess; going out for hot chocolate; making chocolate brownies; browsing a bookshop for a new chapter book and a family game of charades. Any one of these activities would probably have not made the grade but somehow packaged together she seemed to get into the theme. Who knew???!!So maybe have a think about creating a list of activities around a letter or any other theme. It's clearly all about how you package it! Anyone else got other simple ideas to beat boredom??
