A worthwhile trip for kids 9 years plus is part of the Blue Mountains six foot track trail. Start at the Megalong Valley cemetery (this takes off 8 km and the vertical drop from Katoomba).
A well marked trail takes you through farmland (not National Park)to sensational waterholes and a spectacular camp site where you can have fires and dogs.
The campsite at Wiseman’s Ferry is called Rosevale. Nice spot next to the river and lots of fun to be had – easy swimming and, if you have a boat, great for dragging the kids behind. Fires are OK and great for cooking marshmallows. Enough trees to be shady but not so bushy as to loose the kids. Camping neighbours are really close to you, so keep your fingers crossed they are good (ours were great). Kiosk on site with essentials but bring most of your stuff with you. In summary, a very good spot, especially if you’re either new to camping or want a low-stress camp spot.
Blanket Bay at Cape Otway is a great campsite. If you want some more facilities Bimbi Park just up the road is also a fantastic site. Horseriding, outdoor films, koalas etc.
Perfect – thanks..keep ‘em coming
it is a very nice post
Soon it will be the peak time for camping down under. Pack the tent, arm the kids with motor bikes and break all the OH&S rules for a great Easter camp.
