Kids dinner

Dads’s Club chef, Jeff and his mates have come up with a few tips that are a sure way to get your young ones eating well.

TIP 1: Disguise the essentials they’re afraid of by grating  zuchini, bean, capsicum, carrots, garlic and / or onion and cook it within your meal e.g. mince, fish, tinned tuna.

TIP 2: Get the kids involved in food preparation. Kids love mixing & cutting, this way they take some ownership of the meal and will down it with pride!

TIP 3: Use canola spray oil as this has a lighter taste than butter or olive oil. It’s also easier for you and the kids can join in too.

TIP 4: Use a peeler for shaved carrots, apples etc.. the slices offer a more more kid-friendly texture  which is more  manageable for the little dears!

TIP 5: Take them shopping and introduce games like working out what vegie or fruit it is by touch and smell. Get them to unload the shopping basket and name each as they do it.

TIP 6: Have the kids plan the weekly  menu. This ensures buy-in and  will reduce any angst during the week.

TIP 7: Consistently lead  by example. If they see you continually eating well they’ll conclude it’s the right  thing to do.
